Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information DriveSmart Theory collects, why, and what control you have over it.

1. What we collect

  • Account details — your email address and an encrypted password, or the details returned by your chosen sign-in provider.
  • Study settings — your country, licence category, language preference, study goal and daily target.
  • Study activity — card progress, answered questions, favourites, revision queue, streaks and mock-exam results.
  • Subscription records — your plan, status, renewal date and the payment-provider identifiers needed to manage it. Card numbers are handled by Stripe and never reach us.
  • Technical data — basic error and security logs needed to keep the service working, and basic visitor analytics for the published site (page views, device type and approximate country).

2. Why we use it

To create and secure your account, save and personalise your learning, show your progress and streaks, provide and bill Premium, respond to support requests, and detect misuse. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

3. Legal basis

We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the app and any subscription), on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and reliable, and to meet legal obligations such as tax and accounting records.

4. Who can see your data

Your study records are private to your account and enforced at the database level — other learners cannot read them. Administrators can manage content and basic account records, and can see billing events needed for support, but cannot browse another learner’s private study progress through the app.

We share data only with the providers needed to run the service: our hosting and database provider, and Stripe for payments. They act on our instructions and are bound by their own data-protection obligations.

5. How long we keep it

Account and study data are kept while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal and study data, keeping only records we must retain by law, such as payment and invoice records.

6. Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your account, or restriction of processing, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to the data controller, Ruhama Digital Design Agency, 27, The Meadows, Flat 2, Triq Alka, Pawl il-Bahar, SPB 02, Malta, or email drivesmart@ruhamadigital.com. If you are in the UK, Ireland or the EU, you may also complain to your national data-protection authority.

7. Security and cookies

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, passwords are stored hashed, and access to your records is restricted per account. The app stores a sign-in session and your display preferences in your browser. It does not use advertising or tracking cookies. For the published site, we collect basic visitor analytics — page views, device type and approximate country — to understand which pages are useful and keep improving the service. These analytics are aggregated usage statistics only, are separate from advertising or tracking cookies, and do not identify you personally.

8. Age requirement

The app is intended for learner drivers and you must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use any part of it. This single minimum applies in both the UK and Ireland, and matches the Digital Age of Consent of 16 under the Irish Data Protection Act 2018. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and block account creation below this age. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will delete it along with the data held for it.

9. Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will show the update in the app before it takes effect.
